I came across this link in one of the thousand lj comms I'm in and got so excited I had to show you all right away! How cool is this, seriously?!

Also, I hope you've all had a lovely Halloween/Samhain/All Hollow's Eve/Dia de los Muertos! We bought candy (and four fabulous cupcakes with marshmallow frosting - mmmm) but we had no trick-or-treaters, however we also had all the lights turned off so maybe that was a factor. One can never be sure, hehe.

And, to those of you about to jump into the madness that is NaNoWriMo, I salute you and wish you chatty, verbose muses.

And lastly, if you happen to like dark cabaret music, which I love, this is a great site with news and lots of music and of course last.fm has tons of free music for listening happiness as well.

Oh, cool, I guess I like dark caberet music, because I love Rasputina. o.o

Oh me too! That's actually how I found a lot of the other bands. I followed a link from Rasputina's website to Sepiachord for an interview with Melora and afterwards poked around the site and was like wow! My favorite Rasputina song as of late is Mama Was an Opium Smoker, I can't get it out of my head.

My favorite at the moment is 'Rusty the Skatemaker'. I had two of their albums and then flung them at my boyfriend yelling "HOLY SHIT MAN THIS IS AWESOME!", he ended up liking them even more than I do, and found a bunch more that I didn't have and sent it to me.

I've been meaning to look into Voltaire especially. They've done shows with Ego Likeness a few times (if I remember correctly), who I quietly worship.

I remember snagging some Ego Likeness from a post in aikea's lj and now that you mention it, I think I've complertely forgotten to listen to them, doh! And Voltaire is awesome! I have all of his music too, except for the brand new pirate-themed one he just released, which I covet. There are several tracks free for listening of his on the last.fm link I posted for your investigation purposes. I'm violetveil on there btw if you want to be friendy types. :)

If I ever set up last.fm, of course I will :) I don't use it as it is, though.

I shall check out his free songs, and if you end up liking Ego Likeness, Aikea and Gelydh were kind enough to share with me, so I have lots.

Sharing is fun! I have tons of Rasputina so if you need anything in particular let me know and also, if it turns out you like Voltaire I can help out with that too. :)

That article is awesome! I was aware that it was not uncommon for female prostitutes in the early 1900s for prostitutes to sport a nipple ring or two, and that Louis XIV had a mistress who purportedly wore large precious-stone encrusted jewelery through hers, but I didn't know it was actually a trend in Edwardian England.

I didn't know about the prostitutes or Louis' mistress having them, so you've given me some fun research for this afternoon, thank you! (Yes, I'm a nerd who actually enjoys research, hehe.)
