I know how to sew, but I'm very, very lazy about it. I've made full length gowns and renaissance faire costumes, and all kinds of other random crap. I should totally try my hand at steampunk.
There is a really, really good film version of Twelfth Night. It was set in an era that wasn't quite Victorian, but somewhere near there. It had an excellent cast, Imogen Stubbs, Helena Bonham Carter, Ben Kingsley, Richard E Grant, and others I can't remember off the top of my head.
